FAQ

Soar has compiled a list of the most frequently asked questions by teenagers, caregivers and teachers about our work.

Young People

  • We love having you in for work experience! While we would love to have everyone in all the time, there are a limited number of spaces so get in touch as early as possible and we’ll do our best to get you in. Visit our contact page for more information.

  • We believe that all young people have a unique spark of potential but sometimes there are blocks that can get in the way of finding that in ourselves. We’ll spend the morning exploring and naming some of those blocks, working to see where they come from, and celebrating ourselves and our peers.

Our workshops are about letting you press pause on all the noise from your everyday life and check in with yourself and your year group. You might have heard from people in your school or older siblings about how the day went, however every Soar workshop is different as every group is different.

  • We’re so glad to hear that you’re taking steps to look after yourself. Visit our Need Support section for more information. Well done.

  • You can speak to your TY Co-ordinator or guidance councillor, and send them to the school workshops .

Educators, Parents &Guardians

  • SOAR facilitators are trained to the highest standard and our internal training programmes consist of evidence based training programmes as well as practical, on-the-job experience supported by professional management and clinical psychologists.

Each facilitator completes mandatory, annual external training programmes including Child Protection, ASIST Suicide awareness and prevention programmes, Self-Harm and Trauma Informed Practice Training.

  • The My World 2 survey has indicated a critical need for a change in the way we approach wellbeing with our young people, with anxiety and depression levels rising. Soar’s work honed since 2012, is addressing this issue head on. We create spaces where teenagers jump into the difficult work of understanding better their own mental landscape and working together to build resilience. The following statistics gathered from participants after workshops attest to this.

98% of teenagers feel more able to have honest conversations after a Soar workshop.

91% of teenagers feel more motivated to pursue their potential after a Soar workshop.

98% of young people would recommend a Soar workshop to others their age.

  • The support of our larger community helps us to provide the best training for our staff, and thus the best experience for young people.
